Fuse 1 Future IR&D Contributions
-
Laid the groundwork for an inert gas purge subsystem for the Fuse1 SLS printer from test validation to functioning prototype
▪ Developed design goals, test plans, and success metrics for the system, taking product and management input and pivoting
week-to-week action plans in ways which continued to drive the most pertinent & highest risk tasks forward
▪ Conducted materials testing to categorize purge system specifications and generate optimized gas flow & concentration
parameters; ultimately creating parts with a 25%+ gain in EAB across Formlab’s current SLS material portfolio
▪ Proposed & implemented a heat shielded prototype laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) device as a means of
measuring powder embedded oxygen concentrations at the location of sintering
▪ Designed and owned subsystem CAD, generating multiple possible architectures, working with ID/UX, Product, and
Marketing to align on a single vision that would ultimately deliver more value to the customer
